The recent return of Rigobert Song to the Lions Indomatables of Cameroon has been heavily discussed both in the media and among football fans after the former Cameroon international defender was appointed Technical Director of the team in October. At a press conference last week, Song took the time to offer his analysis about some of the players who have recently been included in the squad, including Ben Elliot Njongoue.
Song was highly complimentary of the midfielder, who currently plays for R. Tilleur in Belgium. He said, “If he has been selected for the team it is because he has qualified for it. He has real qualities and he is strong.”He then went on to suggest that Njongoue could be the new face of Cameroonian football, citing the player’s “power and technique”.
Song also expressed his admiration for coach Claudy Moussa, saying that he is “a coach who has a good vision of football.” The former Cameroon international expressed an optimistic outlook, saying that he believes that Moussa can “take the team to a higher level”.
The comments underline Song’s commitment to his new role in leading and developing the Lions Indomatables, and to ensuring that the team performs at its highest level. It will be interesting to see how Njongoue’s career develops in Cameroon, and to see the role that Song will play in the ongoing development of the national team.
